Jay Smith sabotages Speakers Corner debate critical of his Islamophobic ministry. 

So the debate was a farce. I turned up at Speakers Corner this afternoon ready to debate the issues I had publicly challenged Lizzie Schofield about. Lizzie and Jay Smith had a different agenda. The challenge to Lizzie two weeks ago was this (see video at 2:10 onwards below):

“To debate Christian Islamophobia towards Muslims in Europe and how your ministry is contributing to this. I will debate you at Speakers Corner, or on Premier Christian Radio. Will you accept my challenge to debate?”

Lizzie said she would “need to think about it.” Lizzie was not at Speakers Corner last week and Jay told me she would debate me today. A week ago I emailed Lizzie and Jay Smith to firm up the arrangements:

May I just confirm the arrangements for Lizzie Schofield and myself to have a public debate at Speakers Corner on Sunday?

I publicly invited Lizzie to debate with me on the subject of ‘Islamopobia in Europe and how certain Christian groups are contributing towards the increasing hatred towards Muslims’ (see 2:10 onwards for the public challenge and invitation); and how I believe Lizzie Schofield, yourself Jay, your associates and the Pfander organisation are contributing towards this problem.

Furthermore, I promised to provide evidence of this fact from the hijab article and your many recorded statements at SC and elsewhere online.

I propose that we have 5 minutes each in turn, with a moderator to keep time and politely ward off interruptions from third parties. As I have issued the invitation to debate I suggest I speak first, outline the issues as I see them, and then Lizzie responds.

Would you pass on my regards to Lizzie and confirm this is acceptable to her?

I never received a reply from either of them or their associates. I questioned Jay Smith about his lack of reply this afternoon just before the debate and he told me he receives “millions of emails” and cannot reply to them all. Lizzie said she does not have to respond to emails.

They then told me that they would only be debating her infamous hijab article and nothing else, because this was the only subject that was ever proposed for debate! This of course is a lie as the video and email evidence makes clear.

It is clear and very sad that their demand to change the subject of the debate was because the damning evidence of their hate speech would be embarrassing to them. Jay even tried to turn the crowd against the originally proposed subject – but I held my ground.  After about 15 minutes or more I attempted to discuss the evidence of Pfanda ministry’s Islamophobia when he intervened and stopped the debate. Chaos ensued.

All the Muslims at Speakers Corner are in agreement that Jay Smith is a dishonest character and so no one is surprised at his behaviour. Some reflected on how his hate preaching has motivated so many to get involved in dawah! The farce was filmed and should be online soon.
