Immanuel Kant 22 April 1724 – 12 February 1804 was a German philosopher who is considered by many (including me) to be the greatest Western philosopher of all time. His magnum opus is the Critique of Pure Reason. Kant’s doctoral thesis (see picture), dated 1755,  is inscribed at the top of the title page in Arabic bismillah al-rahman al-rahim, ‘In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate’, the opening words of the Qur’an.
