  1. The first point is wrong- speaking from the cradle is an unhistorical gnostic fable. Ask any historian or Jesus scholar.

    • Historians and Jesus scholar say the resurrection never happened either. And they are still questioning even if he died to begin with because there’s no historical evidence. But you don’t take their word on that, huh?

And besides, God knows better than all of them. The true story is simply preserved in the Qur’an.

    • Paulus, first of all, in what “gnostic” writing is this story mentioned? It is mentioned in the Nativity Gospels, which were popular among “orthodox” Christians.
Second of all, explain how Mary was not stoned to death according to Jewish law for conceiving out of wedlock, or rather burned to death (she was from a priestly family), if such an exonerating miracle did not happen.
If you say they all thought he was the son of Joseph, then what was the point of the virgin birth? It would seem it had been a waste of a miracle. Also explain why he wasn’t called the son of Joseph in the earliest gospel, Mark, and is instead called “the son of Mary” in Mark 6:3, although the norm was patronymics, not matronymics.

    • Paulus, now you’re just attempting deceit. This is not an argument from silence. We KNOW that Mary conceived out of wedlock (miraculously to us), we KNOW she wasn’t stoned or burned as the Torah requires, the Quran gives a satisfactory explanation through the miracle of the infant Jesus speaking, otherwise no one in his right mind would believe any woman who says she bore him through miraculous virgin birth.
You need to give a satisfactory explanation, or just shut up and stop criticising things beyond your intellectual capacity.

    • Son of Awad.

Take your reasoning and ask yourself this: why wasn’t Mary stoned etc before Jesus allegedly spoke from the cradle? Why did the authorities wait? It’s simply an argument from silence. Besides, the charge would need to be brought forward by the husband, which Joseph did not do. I think you should reread the gospels.

What we do know is that this Koranic story appears in what historians know are fabricated accounts well before Muhammad, and strangely, they have found their way in the eternal speech of Allah.

No, scholars can sift the evidence and we know that the koran contains ancient fables. Muhammad was a man of his time, illerats and unlearned and incorporated stories he heard into his book. The Arab tribes wouldn’t have known then, but we sure know better now. Don’t put your head in the sand.

  2. Astonishing facts from the Qur’an; never do I cease to be pleasantly surprised at the simplicity of the Islamic Eesa (AS) and the extreme convergence between the Qur’anic portrayal of Jesus and the conclusions of the historical scholars. The Non-Trinitarian Eesa of the Qur’an is accepted as the historical Jesus; Prof Anthony Buzzard affirms that the historical Jesus was not a Trinitarian as does Prof Bart Ehrman and mainstream Biblical scholarship. Evangelicals refuse to accept history that contradicts their ”inner faith and witness” whilst demanding Muslims accept the Cruci-FICTION on historical grounds! Will they concede then Jesus did not speak of ”OUSIA” and the ”3 Persons” and ”Hypostatic Union” and the term ”TRINITAS” ? WILL THEY?

  5. “Second of all, explain how Mary was not stoned to death according to Jewish law for conceiving out of wedlock, or rather burned to death (she was from a priestly family), if such an exonerating miracle did not happen.”

Why the need for a talking baby if Joseph believes the angel and what the angel says is true?

“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.”

Out of wedlock but no adultery has taken place. Therefore no punishment.

A miracle can’t be against the law can it? That would be illogical. It would automatically make God guilty would it not?

Theoretically God would have to be stoned according to your reasoning, as both parties to the claimed crime must be put to death. Except if it was Sharia and the man would get away scot free by repenting or denying that he was involved.

    Like

    • Did the angels appear to the rest of Jewry?
You fail to see the point, which is: a 12 year old virgin Levite girl BETROTHED but not married to Joseph, (“God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph” Luke 1:26-27); conceived a child out of wedlock.
No sane person would believe her if she said she gave birth even though no man has touched her, not even rape.
Yet again you failed to see another point. An angel had to appear to Joseph in order for him to believe she was innocent, meaning only something supernatural would be sufficient evidence to prove Mary’s innocence. So either an angel had to appear to the rest of Jewry, or the child himself speaks in the cradle exonerating his mother.

    I reply:

Not so because in this case no force is applied by the man and the woman does not cry out in response to this force. In the case of rape one or the other is mentioned in the passage concerned.

    Correct translation:

24 Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.

25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:

No force or screaming in response to this force by the woman in the following verses therefore no rape:

    28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

I am not interested in a discussion regarding Jewish law because it is a red herring, I quoted the verse in response of your mocking the Sharia. The topic you fail to answer is how was Mary unpunished when the Bible mentions no exonerating miracle.

I wonder how no force is used when it clearly reads in other translations: “raped”, “overpowered”, “forced”, “seized”. Your KJV translation is an obvious attempt at corrupting scripture.

Here is what Deut 22 simply talks about:
Verse 20-21: Women is not found to be a virgin on the wedding night. Punished by stoning.
Verse 22: Adultery, sex between man and married woman. Both punished by stoning.
Verse 23-24: Consensual sex between man and virgin pledged to be married. Both punished by stoning. The screaming is evidence that she was not raped.
Verse 25-27: Rape of a young woman pledge to be married. Only the man is stoned. Her screaming is evidence of rape.
Verse 28-29: Rape of a virgin not pledged for marriage. Man is punished with a fine. Father gets the money, she gets a life sentence with her rapist. If this is consensual, an explicit punishment would have been due for the girl.

  11. Such a case is not criminalized as Sharia does. Why should it be?

The bible just mandates that God treats them as man and wife from the first act of consensual sex.

After that if they have sex outside their marriage that is adultery. The first time there is no sin.

By the way when will you get your 100 lashes Paul? Or did you get married after your first affair? If you don’t mind a personal question.

  12. In the passage concerned there is no sin of adultery. Neither of the persons involved has covenanted her\himself to another and they are both first timers.

I admit there is probably sin involved but we don’t we get flogged every time we sin do we?

There is a difference between crimes and sins. All crimes are sins but the converse cannot always be true.

So I am left wondering why the sex act between two unattached humans is criminalized by Islam in this way and to this extent?

What is the fundamental difference between the sex act in this situation and that between Adam and Eve?

Is it because it is not a controlled action under the control and arrangement of the duly authorized person under the auspices of Islam?

They have arranged their own marriage ipso facto and thus they must be punished? This is something that Islam cannot tolerate perhaps? Under Sharia those who arrange their own marriages are counted as adulterers are they not? So they must be stoned?

I am not claiming that they have not sinned in any way. They have dishonoured their parents for example.

For example if a shipwreck leaves two survivors stranded on an uninhabited island, one girl and one boy and there is no prospect of them being found for many years, let’s say for arguments sake. Should they flog themselves 100 times if they sleep together?

Quote: “I wonder how no force is used when it clearly reads in other translations: “raped”, “overpowered”, “forced”, “seized”. Your KJV translation is an obvious attempt at corrupting scripture.”

The core essence of all prophetic teachings, including the core essence of Jesus teachings are contained within the Holy Qur’an.

The Qur’an, like the OT, repeatedly hammers home the concept of God’s Oneness. Christians are forced to play with words and definitions in order to argue otherwise because of the false doctrine of the Trinity. Anyone with basic common sense, and a little logic can see through such weak and false arguments.

Christians only argue that God is like his creation because, again, they are forced into a corner due to the false doctrine of the Trinity.

But we must ask: Why does good NEED to be like his creation? And if he is LIKE his creation, is he then really the Divine God?

The problem is that Muslims and Jews have an Abrahamic understanding of Divinity, while Christians have a Greco-Roman-Paganistic understanding of Divinity. If Christians would just step back inside the “tent of Abraham” on such issues, these type of problems would be alleviated., and we would have much more in common with each other.

Read the second commandment carefully and become a Muslim today; I will help in your sahada on bloggintheology

      —————-

EXODUS 20:4-6 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

madmanna, do you understand “or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in earth beneath, or that is in the water under earth, you shall not bow down to them or serve them.?

Jesus is a likeness, image, and he is something on earth. Jesus according to the second commandment is not God and must not be worshiped, if you read the second commandment and accept the Bible.

      Thanks.
