Jonathan McLatchie Plagiarises Many Times in Debate with Yusuf Ismail

Recently, a video was published demonstrating that Jonathan McLatchie plagiarised from Sam Shamoun’s online article in his debate with Br. Yusuf Ismail. When I first noticed this, I produced a written document citing the times he had done so in the IPCI recording of the debate online. I then included the sources he plagiarised from. Several of my colleagues would have seen this document. Instead of creating a video showing that he had plagiarised from many authors, I decided to produce only one clip of him plagiarising from Sam Shamoun twice. I did this because I knew Jonathan would publicly claim that his plagiarising from Sam Shamoun in this debate was an “isolated case”. True to form, this is exactly what he did earlier today:

“Nonetheless, this was an isolated case, and I had forgotten that was in there (normally I would paraphrase before presenting publicly).” – Jonathan McLatchie on Facebook

It should be noted that the isolated case here is of him referring to his plagiarising of Sam Shamoun’s article during the debate. Yet, this was not one isolated case, as can be seen in the video I produced several days ago (I believe it was the night of the debate itself), he not only plagiarised twice from Sam Shamoun, but once from Tony Costa, once from Robert Morey and at least once from Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers (I count the plagiarism from Ellicott’s commentary as once but he repeated this statement from the commentary, word for word, several times in his opening statement):

Yet, this is not the only case of him plagiarising, in the past, Br. Yahya Snow has also caught him doing the same, first it was from Nabeel Qureshi:

Then from Jay Smith:

How’s that for an “isolated case”, that you conveniently forgot Jonathan?

and God knows best.

  1. So he just lied or forgot he plagiarised more than once and plagiarised different people? All not exactly scholars…just apologists or in the case of Shamoun an Islamophobe on the net. Sad. And for him to admit that he “normally” paraphrases from others in debates is quite telling [without referencing them?] is that a tacit admission he’s been doing soft plagiarism for a while now.
What is wrong with being honest and pointing at where your reading stuff from or where your paraphrasing stuff from, Mentioning somebody else’s name or referencing somebody else is not a bad thing…it’s the HONEST thing to day. That’s how one does academia. But in his case, because the guys he borrows from are low level polemicists or non scholars he considers to be his peers he does not reference them…I think that’s what is going here. He is worried what other people think about him.
