Well, this Muslims say that we to hate a lot of people for the sake of Allah. I don’t want to hate churches and other places of non-Muslim worship, but I certainly hate idols.
I don’t want to hate Christmas, but I certainly roll my eyes at it in contempt due to its historical pagan provenance.

The verse quoted from Luke 14 v 26 refers to acts of voluntary love which can be withheld without harming or causing loss to the person involved.
This is the hatred which is not against the law but is an expression of priority which is given to God first.
Mandatory acts of love are those which must be given to avoid causing loss or harm which would otherwise ensue if they were not performed.
There is a subtlety here which it would be nice if our Muslim brothers would take the trouble to explore.
