This is unacceptable

This man’s behaviour is clearly unacceptable and quite possibly illegal. As carriers of the Message of Islam we are not called to condemn people but to bring the Truth about the One God whom the Qur’an calls the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

Abu Huraira reported: It was said, “O Messenger of God, pray against the idolaters!” The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, I was not sent to invoke curses, but rather I was only sent as mercy.”

To those brothers who might question my publicly rebuking this individual and condemning his behaviour we have to consider the following. In our society today it is no longer enough to privately censure bad behaviour which is committed in public and filmed for all to see. We must speak out to explain that it is utterly unIslamic and contrary to Islamic teaching. Our enemies will make much of this incident so we must clearly disasociate ourselves from the evil that we see done in the name of the Noble faith of Islam.

Finally, I note that bad behaviour by Christians occurs regularly at Speakers’ Corner. They too have issues to address.

  1. I agree with you Paul.

I can understand the mans emotion in the heat of the moment, but Yelling, screaming, making threats, etc. does not qualify as an argument in defense of Islam. It is better not to say anything than to lose control and act wrongly.

He should take some time to learn Islamic apologetics so that he will have something of benefit to say in response to the critics of Islam, and he should also learn some self discipline in order to control and measure his own response.

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.” ~ Qur’an 16:125

    • The man acted incorrectly and dishonorably on behalf of Islam in public, therefore we must raproach such a person publically in a way that helps to teach and guide him so that he might correct his behavior and represent Islam & Muslims in a more acceptable way the next time he is in public. If we do not do so, then such a person may repeatedly tarnish the reputation of all Muslims in public and that is not productive or acceptable.

I pray that this brother learns from his mistakes and that Allah may forgive him.

And yes, bad behavior on the part of some Christians does not excuse bad behavior on the part of Muslims.

  2. Who is that guy by the way? Didn’t see his face properly but his voice is very similar to that of a black guy who makes speaker’s corner dawah videos on youtube…and he wears a turban as well…don’t remember the name of the channel by the way…

  3. Can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen. I think somewhere along the way, some Muslims got the mistaken impression that “da`wah” means “making Islām look stupid.”

    • True but of course we all have our buttons that when pressed cause us to act out of character. He was wrong to lash out like that however hatun is also culplable (more so) because she has provoked him many times in the past and was clearly lapping it up when he did crack.

    • Oh believe me, I’m not passing blame on anyone. The instigators and provocateurs know exactly who they are.

    • It’s pointless to behave like this. But these people are evil creatures. It’s understandable that someone gets furious like this.

    • Of course, and I’m sure they love and even seek these reactions. But my point was, just don’t put yourself in the situation where you’re having to deal with those sorts of people. We’re all human, we all have limits to our temper. But since people are stupid enough to associate our religion with a person losing it, well… my original comment.
