some insightful reflections…
In one of Imam Shabir Ally’s debates with David Wood there was a farce of a QAsession which just appeared to be a pre-planned gang-up on Shabir. I want to offer a few comments on the exchanges that took place between Shabir and Sam Shamoun as well as Usama Dakdok. It’s easy to criticise after the event as hindsight is 20/20 – I understand there are mitigating circumstances but there is criticism levelled at all concerned.
Firstly, what was that farce? A set-up. Shabir, did not bargain for such sneaky tactics on the part of the ABN crew to try and help David Wood. ABN even had the pics of their questioners conveniently handy, their ABN affiliated apologists were allowed much more time to grill Shabir than other questioners and Sam Shamoun got two bites at the cherry (unprecedented in debates?). Sam appeared to have colluded with David prior to the debate as David conveniently had the sources Sam was referencing in…

Overall good, but I disagree with the author in a few places and hope you can convey my objections to him.
1. Just because shabir Ally was cornered, insulted, shaken up and in this state agreed to debate Shamoun does not mean that this is something written in stone. Shabir can still refuse to debate him. He isn’t bound by his agreement to debate in that crappy channel.
2. The reason why Muslims should avoid the likes of Shamoun is because he is, simply put, a potty mouth. That’s the sole reason. It is a sin to entertain people who have applied filthy and disgusting language towards God and His Prophet ( saw ).
Low level polemicists such as Shamoun crave attention. They want to build their lowly profile by debating the likes of shabir Ally. It’s just a career progression move for them. But when we totally ignore these imbiciles, you’ll see they will get more frustrated and die out eventually. That’s surely good.
3. There are no clever polemics observed in the writings of people like Shamoun. You come across instances of reading into the texts, straw man fallacies over and over again, utter irrelevancies, an almost complete lack of comprehension, non sequitur and other logical leaps over and over and over again. Why would someone such as shabir want to waste time with this childish level of polemics?
Shabir will continue to be a disappointment if he wastes his energies here.
As long as one is decent and polite, then engaging with such an individual is fine, even if a not so prominent polemicist. But a potty mouth who is not even fit to be brought in a family gathering, one who routinely applies obscenities towards God, His revelation and prophet (saw), absolutely not.
