Over at my new blog The Apostles’ Memoirs, I have been examining various passages that could be used as evidence of a high Christology in Mark’s Gospel. I have looked at the following passages:

    • the application of biblical passages about the laRD to the lard jesus in Mark 1:2-3
    • jesus claim that the Son of Man has the authority to forgive sins
    • jesus claim that the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath
    • jesus ability to walk on the Sea
    • the trans figuration of jesus appearance in divine glory
    • jesus claim that the Son of Man will sit at God’s right and come on the clouds

In my latest post, I have a concluding summary about Mark’s Christology as well as how reading Mark as part of the fourfold Gospel canon and through the lens of the Christian traditions and creeds allows for the text to take on new meanings for the community of faith. By the way, if you have signed on to be a follower here, most of my blogging output will now be at the new blog if you are interested further.

  2. Interesting, thanks for sharing.

Licona reiterate the same old argument. Martin Dale makes a good point, the title “Messiah” had developed within Jewish theology and literature into a prophetic King, the salvational eschatological Messiah serving to free an oppressed jews abandoned by God. I can imagine how Jesus can be seen as blasphemous as he was sort of the elite jews expectation for the awaited Messiah: The Royal military saviour , Jesus was nothing of the sort. Many christians missed the point and instead trying to make this as a case for proving Jesus divinity
