I’m more concerned with whether he can make a difference as a Labour politician. The Tories are strangling this country.

BTW Paul do you think it is acceptable for a elected Muslim councilor to not only refuse to shake the hand of a woman but to actually recoil from her?

lol hilarious! So what are your thoughts about Adolph Hitler? Was he a little misunderstood?

What a silly question Paul. Of course I don’t think he was misunderstood at all, just like I don’t think ISIS have misunderstood Islam.

So what do you think about Hitler?? He had some good ideas right??

So much for this pervasive “Islamophobia” in Britain.

Would this happen to be the same London mayor who was being accused by the Prime minister for colluding with an extremist cleric who was in fact no such thing?
The same who still hasn’t received an apology? James methinks you suffer from tunnel vision.

Islamophobia is rife in the media and in everyday lives on Muslims. It is very well documented. You should be concerned about if you were a decent person.

Hmmm….yet a Muslim mayor gets elected in Britain’s largest and most important city. Methinks reports of rampant islamophobia are grossly exaggerated.
Plus, how is accusing someone of having ties to an extremist islamophobic?

When it is without foundation and no evidence is provided. Ponder also why Mr Cameron has done nothing about Mr Johnson who was openly racist against President Obama for his Kenyan heritage. Like i said tunnel vision. While might i add going after the Labour party about anti-semetism.
Would you not agree that such discrimination is unbecoming of a man with his auhority? Why only go after one with no basis and ignore with other people in his party are openly doing it to others?

Paul sadly this particularly vile form of bigotry serves as a scapegoat in order to reduce our governments responsibility in causing said extremism in the first place. History is rife with similar examples directed at other groups. Nothing new under the sun.

Come on now, even you can’t be saying that saying someone “sits on platforms with extremists” is the same as saying someone colludes with them? And how is that islamophobic anyway?
That aside, Khan has appeared at functions with known extremists – is telling the truth Islamophobic?
Then again, you still haven’t explained how a society with such rampant islamophobia could elect a muslim mayor. It isn’t adding up.

That “proves” islamophobia how?

UK is a large multicultural society, not everyone is Islamopbic. Obviously the media is largely Islamophobic and bigoted. Yet London has a large Muslim population. and many progressive and left wing voters.

London’s muslim population is only around 10-15% – sizeable but not “large” by any means.
BUt as for this rampant islamophobia – there are/were literally dozens of muslim MP’s, dozens of Peers, lots of local councillors and in the media, muslim perspectives seem to be given as much, if not more, media space than those who oppose it.
For example, someone like Tommy Robinson has had less media appearances than Anjem Choudhry, and for every alleged “Islamophobic” comment like Cameron’s there is an equal or greater pro-islam counter in the media. So, I’m not sure how you can say that the media is bigoted towards islam.
There is no evidence for that at all.

LOL you are very ill-informed and naive (or just a troll?). The Mail on line runs Islamophobic stories most days and is the most read of all the UK tabloids on line.

Well, I don’t think that asking for solid evidence before I believe something makes me a troll. What kind of fool believes in things for which there is no evidence?
The Mail newspaper is just plain phobic about everyone and everything – it talks shit about everyone regardless of their race or religion. So, I don’t see any reason to think that they single out islam more than anyone else. SUrely, you are not basing your claims of islamophobia on the output of a tabloid?
A sfar as I can tell, Muslims are freer to worship without persecution than many would be in muslim majority countries, they are free to go about their business, work and education all without the threat of persecution, so where is the islamophobia?

The Mail singles out Islam and Muslims virtually every day. It demonizes the faith and its followers. Any idiot can see that. Ditto the Express and Sun.
It never speaks in the same way about Jews or Christians.

Why would someone accuse you of sitting on a platform with extremists if not to slander your character? This is the name of the game in British politics. I’ve already explained why I think its Islamophobic, because it is a completely baseless claim which targets a persons faith in this case Sadiq Khans Muslim faith.
“That aside, Khan has appeared at functions with known extremists – is telling the truth Islamophobic?”
So you have the alusive proof of this claim? Nobody else seems to have it least of all the people of accusing him in the first place.
“Then again, you still haven’t explained how a society with such rampant islamophobia could elect a muslim mayor. It isn’t adding up.”
I’ve never said there is rampant Islamophobia and neither has anybody here.
