  1. Yes, there does seem to be a sizeable disparity between the Koran and real life which probably causes a good deal of head-scratching amongst Muslims.

  2. Just a few thoughts which seem to support my conclusion.

“Then they both proceeded, till they met a boy, he (Khidr) killed him. Moses said: “Have you killed an innocent person who had killed none? Verily, you have done Nukra a great Munkar (prohibited, evil, dreadful) thing!”

“And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in righteousness and near to mercy.”

He claimed that the story of Musa and al-kidhr solves the problem of evil. From what viewpoint, theoretically or in real life? Seems a strange solution to me. Evil is the solution to evil? Killing to prevent future evil? A questionable deity condones this I think.

Otherwise he said that life was worse in the middle ages with the plague and such like and we shouldn’t whine. And God can do what he wants and he knows best is the final argument as always.

All in all a poor attempt to explain why calamities happen I think.

  3. I think it is an excellent explanation and demonstrates the superiority of Islamic theodicy over inadequate Christian explanations.
