This is critical for all to understand.
These are not scholars of Islam….these are criminals and ignorant young dupes as foot soldiers.
From simply reading careful analyses in regular newsmagazines such De Spiegel (the english summary of it) and the Washington Post newspaper articles…this is my impression:
The Islamic State is made of a megalomaniac crackpot who thinks he is a scholar but whose entire leadership and strategists are former anti-Islamic Baathist officers of Saddam Hussain, many of whom some years ago were killing Islamists (LOL!).
Originally the precursor to Islamic State was Al Qaeda in Iraq but it was largely destroyed by attacks by the US and by the Sunni Tribes who got sick of the wicked brutality of Al Qaeda in Iraq.
Al-Baghdadi filled up the vacuum with Iraq Baathist soldiers who know how to fight and how to control territory.
These Baathists are used to having power under Saddam and were not happy getting all of it stripped out of them and given to Shias under the stupid and sudden DeBaathification program.
Many of the foot soldiers, are Iraqi, and many are young adults, and have been traumatized with having their fathers, uncles, etc. killed in the senseless invasion of Iraq in 2003 and wanted to get out of the corrupt, brutal Shia Muslims put on to lead them.
Also many of the foot soldiers are foreigners and are ignorant and sometimes clueless of Islam….keep in mind many of them are also very young….like 19 year olds.
I hope the Islamic State loses all the land it controls but I hope it is done in the best way and does not revert to corrupt Shia militias controlling Sunni populations since that the cycle of violence of continue.
The so called “Islamic State” which is really anti-Islamic just like the crazy Lord’s Resistance Army of Uganda is really anti-Christianity.
God , please make this human rights catastrophe end in the least painful way for all involved in that painful and suffering area of the world and please don’t let any young people in the Middle East or abroad be duped into joining the Islamic State.
