The Worship of Bacchus

Salams. Cruikshank’s amazing temperance picture is back in the Tate Gallery. Peering at it yesterday I saw that he included two Turks, turning down a glass of wine. The idea seems to be that mission to the Mohammedan fails because of Islam’s lack of respect for the alcohol habit:
