  1. Many Muslims also don’t know their Quran. With the number of atheist ex-Muslims coming out too, you’ll also see many atheists who show a lot of familiarity with Muhammad’s teachings and the Quran.

    “Muslims revere the Quran but by and large they don’t read it.” This is one of the reasons why some Muslims leave Islam because what they thought was in the Quran actually wasn’t, many lay Muslims simply believe what an imam or internet preacher like zakir naik may tell them, without checking.

    You said;
    “Muslims revere the Quran but by and large they don’t read it.” This is one of the reasons why some Muslims leave Islam because what they thought was in the Quran actually wasn’t, many lay Muslims simply believe what an imam or internet preacher like zakir naik may tell them, without checking.

    I say;
    Gallup or Pew Research is a respecting polling entity. You have to bring a respected polling entity that says Muslims don’t read the Quran.

    If you learn the history of the Quran you will learn that the Quran means “to recite”, “recitation” and the first command from the angel to our prophet is Iqra i.e. “read” or “recite”.

    Because the previous scriptures with lack of proper oral preservation, has been corrupted, God promised to preserve his final message to mankind, the Quran.

    The angel keep repeating the reading of the whole Quran to our prophet and our prophet kept repeating the whole Quran to his disciples and his disciples and wives kept repeating the whole to Quran to their disciples and cycle continuous till today.

    It is only ignorant fellow or polling entity which will say Muslims do not read the Quran. Muslims read Quran every day when praying and after prayers and with the command for Muslims to read the Quran for reward, Muslims keep reading the Quran anytime the can.

    Most Muslim communities, have set times of their choice like daily, weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, bi-weekly, etc. of reading the whole Quran and in some cases in memory since the time of our prophets because God said there is a big reward in just reading the Quran.

    Muslims do send their children to Islamic schools to learn Islamic religion and most Muslim children knows how to read the Quran and in most cases there are completion and prizes for a good Quranic reciter.

    All the above cannot be said with the Christians and the Bible and you can see it below.

    These guys can try this project in a Muslims country and Muslims will quickly recognize the Quran. I want any one to try this project in a Muslim country and he will lose but these guys won in a Christian majority countries.

    Thanks.

    Recitation in Arabic, a language the majority of Muslims in the world cannot understand is hardly equivalent to reading a text and gaining understanding. I spent several years in a non arabic speaking majority muslim nation and I can tell you for a fact that very few people I met read their koran in their native toungue. Sure, they recite it during sholat in a foreign language, but I also sing in the shower…

    If Christians were to have been reading and memorization the gospel of Jesus in Aramaic from his time till today, all the inconsistencies in the NT would have been impossible. It is true some quran readers may not understand in the past but now all the Islamic schools are doing well with the tafsir.

    The reading to preserve it first and later go on the tafsir. How many NT scholars can read NT in Greek? Only few.

    Thanks.

  5. Intellect there’s a big difference between reading the Quran and understanding it. Everything you mentioned is just about people reading it, doesn’t say anything about whether they actually understand what they’re reading.
    And if you’re reading just to get rewards that’s rather shallow. Didn’t know your religion hands out rewards like sweets.
