Unfortunately, Qutb had a very black/white mentality…either you are with me or against me type of mentality.
I can understand that goodness and evilness are black and white apart….yes, goodness is to submit completely to the All-Good one, to the Source of all goodness–God…but one cannot map that dichotomy onto individuals with correct judgement most of the time…only God who knows all the variables can..who allowed the variable to shake out the way they did can know and make absolutely correct judgments on individuals.
Even more unfortunately, many Muslims (although still a very small minority) over the last half century have swallowed Qutb’s simplistic analysis.
