Islam makes real men – who fear none but Allah

A grenade was shot during prayer in Syria. Watch their reaction. This is what real men do. You fear no one but Allah.

  1. If your life is in serious danger you can break off the Prayer there is nothing wrong with that, Islam is not that strict!

  2. Sorry if I am being dumb, I still don’t get it. Should the people continue to pray even when they are certain their lives are at risk? or They were so engrossed in the Prayer, even a grenade does rattle them? one of the guys fell down due to the impact of the grenade. I think they should have stopped the prayer. Islam is easy, don’t make it hard on yourselves.

  4. Indeed it is easy, but this video demonstrates that for these men even in a war zone the fear of God is greater than the fear of war. It’s a testament to true Islamic courage.

The Quran says believers will not be punished if under mortal threat they deny God with their lips, but says it is better not to do so and be a martyr. Perhaps a similar principle applies here.

  5. There is a very fine line between getting martyr or committing suicide, especially in the cases like this. Even at the time of the Prophet (on whom be peace) during the war, One group were praying others were guarding the ones who were praying.

Narrated Abu Hurayra: The Prophet said, “Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his
religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to
perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the
mornings, the nights.”Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 38.

There is two issue here, fiest the khusu‘ (preoccupation) in shalah. Other is the life threatening situation in shalah

From what I have seen from the video, it seems those men are really khusu‘in their shalah, so it is a sign of true god fearing men with sincere belief who submit only to their creator during the shalah. Its difficult to be in the state of khusu’ especially in war time situation praying in open field. I have no reason to doubt that those men really in the state of khusu

However  it is permissible that we can deliberately stop shalah when life threatening situation occur and thats no a sin. A fatwa by a muslim scholar Syaikh ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abdul ‘Aziz Al ‘Aqil here discuss the permissibility to stop shalah in life threatening situation even it is mandatory to save other people life who maybe in danger.

  7. There is no reason for them to continue the prayer since they heard the sound of a grenade or a bomb. All (or most) of them tremble due to the explosion and one of the guys even fell down. So it is not permissible to continue the prayer once you are aware of life threatening danger. There is a very fine line between getting Martyr and committing suicide, you better get it right.

Cool it. You are not wrong and nobody said you are wrong. This site is a critical thinking site that allow brainstorming to achieve a truth from any blind faith, be it Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, voodooism etc. It mainly centers on Islam and Christianity, so you are free to continue if you feel the truth is on your path.

I did not participate earlier because you are all right. It is permissible to break your prayers on so many instances.

Those praying are the ones to decide whether their lives are in danger and decide to stop the prayers and they are aware they have the permission to stop the prayers not only if their lives are in danger but in so many instances like stopping prayers to help others.

In Islam, it is better to be in between two extremes than to go to completely to the fullest of an extreme. From the video, even though there is a grenade attack, they felt, they can continue to pray rather than stop. I believed it there are more grenades to follow they would have stopped the prayers to defend themselves.

They appear to fear Allah than the one grenade we saw in the video. May be more grenades were thrown and they stopped the prayers which they should or will to defend themselves and still fear Allah and Allah said it is permissible to stop.

If there is another video that shows they did not stop the prayers, after so many grenades were thrown or until other grenades killed them, then we will say they have gone to the other extreme which is not good.

Those in war knew if they are in danger to stop prayers and not we the viewers of video. If you do not take chance, then you will not pray in time of war feeling a grenade will kill you and you have gone to the other extreme.

They knew the environment they are in the thought it is secured with a single grenade not giving problem to them.

So, you are all right and those praying seem to be in the middle of the two extremes.

    Thanks.
