“the scholarly consensus is that the Qurān does indeed make the charge that Jewish and Christian scriptures have been textually corrupted.” – This is particularly interesting as it provides a precise rebuttal to the foundations of an argument currently popular amongst some Christian apologists, namely that the Qurān on one hand identifies the contemporary Gospel and Torah as the divinely inspired Injīl and Tawrat in its entirety, but yet on the other is clearly in ideological conflict with those two revelations.
Evidently a critical evaluation of the Quran by those who have the intellectual licence to do so indicates that this is a misrepresentation of the Qurānic view of the current Christian and Jewish scriptures, and so such a perceived inconsistency does not in fact exist.
