One should give thanks and praise to God for His amazing care in healing

Clearly intelligent design at work. Only wilful blindness rejects these signs of His care

  1. Here are some pictures of tumours (not recommended for the squeamish)

Are these also signs of intelligent design at work? Should I give praise and thanks to God for tumours (and any number of other horrible disease afflicting all life forms) ?

    • Yes. They presuppose intelligent design gone awry. Sin entered this world in one instant of time long ago and we live under its curse. A cataclysmic shattering convulsed every facet of life. All the pain and suffering and evil we see are the result of that “earthquake”. It began when our first parents refused to obey God’s instructions, mediated by the enmity he provided before the universe was spoken into existence.

  2. that’s a very negative take on things. How do you explain the wondrous healing properties of the skin in the GIF? This is surely not accidental. We should thank God for his blessings.

    • Paul,
I’m not an expert on wound healing. If you are interested there is a lengthy article on Wikipedia which I’ve had a quick look at – no mention of God. If you think it is deficient you can edit it.
You say “surely not accidental” – you are right. Wound healing, as well as other body processes are a result of billions of years of evolution, not a random accident – straw man argument.
And you haven’t addressed my point about diseases – did God intelligently design these as well? If so, not everything he did counts as a blessing. Should we also curse God for his blights?
No, the body’s defence mechanisms are just good enough to enable sufficient individuals to be able to reproduce, as one would expect from evolution.

    • No we should never curse God. It’s odd that you would doubtless see intelligent design operating in your iPhone but refuse to see it in the infinitely more complex operations of the healing process.
The notion of Godless evolution is an extremely implausible cop out.
Regarding diseases yes ultimately God wills all things in His universe. But this space time dimension is a vale of tears and testing. If we graduate successfully we will find our true and everlasting home in the next life – where there is no pain or suffering for the blessed.

    • Paul,
Your iPhone argument is an analogy. Analogies cannot be used to produce logical proof – they may suggest ideas but no more than that. For an analogy to work there must be significant similarities between the objects under consideration. What are the significant similarities between an iPhone and wound healing? And the conclusion you draw from your analogy is just one that could be made – e.g. I know that an iPhone has many designers – does wound healing have many designers? I know that I can take photographs with and iPhone – can I do that with wound healing?
Here is how David Hume put it:
“If we see a house, Cleanthes, we conclude, with the greatest certainty, that it had an architect or builder because this is precisely the species of effect which we have experienced to proceed from that species of cause. But surely you will not affirm that the universe bears such a resemblance to a house that we
can with the same certainty infer a similar cause, or that the analogy here is entire and perfect. The dissimilitude is so striking that the utmost you can here pretend to is a guess”.

“The notion of Godless evolution is an extremely implausible cop out” – Plausibility is a subjective judgement. You are saying that evolution is implausible – to you. Many find it very plausible.

Your last paragraph is theology – your territory. I won’t comment.

  3. Wonderful. Alhamdulillah.

  4. It’s an impressive example of what we’ve evolved to do.

  5. Is that a GIF of your god healing the hand of a man wounded by the stones he was throwing at an adulteress?

Impressive. Where do I go to say my shay how are ya?

  6. Insulting others by those who claim to be earnest followers of God is strange, juvenile and pathetic. I cannot imagine God is tickled pink.

Praising God when he doesn’t heal, this is acceptable to him. For, if when you do well and suffer for it, and remain faithful, that too pleases him.

  7. “Cicatrization process. Thank you body.”

Thank the Son who holds all things together by the word of his power:

    Heb 1 v 3:

    3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

  8. Now unto him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us…

  9. That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made comformable to his death…

Take that get rich quick charlatons of popular preaching for profits. Your blood be upon your own heads. Do you really think you can mock God and not reap the consequences?

Christian, if you wonder what happened to the purifying impact of the church on society, take another look at the greedy whores spewing lies from the pulpit that originate from the pit of hell, seducing an entire generation with itching ears. God have mercy on them, please.

  10. Bless me Lord. Bless me lord. You know that’s all I ever hear. No one aches, no one hurts. No one even sheds one tear, but he aches, he bleeds, he weeps, and he cares for your needs

  11. It isn’t difficult to thank him for who he is and for what he has accomplished in our lives. If he wasn’t lovable, how could he demand that we love him, especially to love him above all others and everything else? That he loves to be loved by us is amazing. How could loving him have any impact on God?

Just as parents love their children and are deeply grateful for their love, our father, who is in heaven, delights when we respond to him with genuine love. He knows our hearts. He appreciates every step we take to honor him no matter how small. It is our desire to love him that means everything to him.
