Abdus Salam (died 1996), was a Pakistani theoretical physicist. A major figure in 20th century theoretical physics, he shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics with Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg for his contribution to the electroweak unification theory. He was the first Pakistani to receive a Nobel Prize in science and the second from an Islamic country to receive any Nobel Prize (after Anwar Sadat of Egypt).

He was also an Ahmadi which is a deal breaker for many Muslims but not me.

Being Ahmadi is a “deal breaker” for all Muslims because those who have no problem with it are not Muslims.

Nadir,
When he said that it is not a deal breaker for him, it is not synonymous with no problem whatsoever.
I don’t agree with Ahmadism and I believe Ghulam Mirza Ahmad was a fraud and I believe that most who have done research who still remain Ahmadi have a denial problem. I have a serious problem with Ahmadism but ultimately only God can judge each person correctly.
However, Muslim literally means someone who submits to God and only God will judge.
Based on your presumptuous grandstanding and judgmental self-righteousness in creating ever expanding circles of takfir, if you are in a group that has a few Ahmadis and you in it, perhaps you may very well be at the nadir of this small group in goodness and thus in ultimate submission to God and goodness when God sees the hearts of all the 11 people. Not to imply that the other few Ahmadis would be necessarily considered good.
I don’t meant to judge you and we must speak out agains the contradictions and absurd manipulations of hadiths by Ahmadis but be careful and exercise discretion and a nuanced approach. God knows best.

We should not judge lay people too harshly. But here we have the case of a very intelligent and educated person who was an Ahmadi. We would destroy our whole theology if we accepted him as a believer. It would mean that Islam is not a rational religion but basically a religion you are born in.
The reason why most people do not accept Islam or Sunni Islam in this case is not stupidity but filthiness. Abdusalam was not stupid but he was filthy and did not want to reject his Ahmadi religion. If we excuse him there will not be any real disbeliever.
