Yes, it appears to have been drained from him. And yes, the idea appears to be that someone, unknown to him, can drain him by having faith. Very odd indeed!

ehrman’ response is interesting because it conveys something which the english translations don’t . ehrman agrees jesus was depleted. and then he says “very odd indeed!”
