Imagine bleeding, beaten, wounded, having lost companions and family members from an enemy, continuously persecuting you, yet when the Prophet had the chance to avenge his enemies on the conquest of Makkah, he forgives everyone. What sort of a man would do this? A man that was sent by God Indeed.
Amr ibn Abi Habeeb reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “A servant has failed and lost if Allah has not placed mercy in his heart towards humanity.”
