What it’s like to convert to Islam – when everyone thinks you’re a terrorist

Paul was an atheist, happily married in what he believed to be a very loving, caring, thoroughly non-religious relationship.

He believed that his wife and family prided themselves on tolerance and free discourse, and people’s right to do and think what they wanted as long as that didn’t unfairly impinge on the rights of others.

But when Paul converted to Islam, and in spite of his keeping it low-key with no real outward displays of his faith, his “very open-minded” partner could not live with the change and divorced him, leaving him heartbroken.

  4. Mark’s idiocy reminds me of something Professor Candida Moss writes in her book “The Myth of Persecution: How Early Christians Invented a Story of Martyrdom”:

    “A defensive insensitivity that refuses to acknowledge the sufferings of those with whom we disagree is far too often where this obsession with persecution leads us” (p. 253).

    Moss was commenting on the victim mentality of Christians, who always seem to portray themselves as “victims” of persecution, whether by secularists, Muslims or anyone else who disagrees with them. In this regard, Mark’s unbelievably moronic statement shows once again the hypocrisy and irony in his brainless views. The guy is walking contradiction.
