How the Creator’s words effect his creation

Jack The Lad just posted this:

‘Ducks attracted by the Quran, as soon as they stop they flee. It started having a calming effect on them and the ducks returned as if they we’re listening and understood the Quran.’

  1. Paul,
Surely this should be filed in your “Silly” category

  2. Maybe silly, but silly empirical experimental evidence

  3. Paul,
This clip was first uploaded to YouTube in 2011. If the phenomenon were repeatable I would have thought that by now there would be thousands of similar clips and many peer reviewed papers from the various Quranic Institutes of Duck Research that would surely have sprung up throughout the Muslim world.
There aren’t. So this is yet another example of the nonsense you peddle.
I’m now off to my local park to do a bit of duck related research. I’ll let you know if I make any breakthroughs.

  5. I don’t think this can serve as convincing evidence to an unbeliever. We can do better. There may certainly be examples of the Quran’s miraculous effect on people (and maybe animals as well), but this particular example would not convince most people.

I think we should concentrate on the supernatural knowledge that the Quran and the Ahadith display in terms of prophecies about the future. That is more convincing, though I wouldn’t hold my breath that most unbelievers would become believers. People tend to be stubborn in changing. But perhaps, some people may accept the truth, inshaAllah.

I have written on the subject of prophecies in the Quran and Ahadith:

  12. Paul,
I note that you haven’t addressed the points I made in my 3:17 post.
I conclude that you have no response to my devastating argument against this nonsense, and that you hope the issue will go away in a flurry of banter with your chums.

The first outing of the West London Quranic Duck Research Institute registered some interesting results. I stood by the pond in Boston Manor Park, arms outstretched and wiggling my fingers. There were 6 mallard (adult, mixed M & F) nearby. They all paddled towards me. When I started reciting Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll, they fled.
I conclude that mallard dislike the works of Lewis Carroll.
    More research is needed.
