  1. Why talk to him when he lives in your nose?

Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle of Allah said. When any one of you awakes up from sleep and performs ablution, he must clean his nose three times, for the devil spends the night in the interior of his nose. (Sahih Muslim, Book 002, Number 0462)

Do you do ablution three times every morning Paul?

And geez, how does he travel across the globe and enter billions of Muslim noses each night?

    • LOL, once again Lassie’s degree in Google Islamic Studies fails him!

Lassie, the hadith is metaphorical. It means that whenever you get up after sleeping, you should wash out your nose. The reason is pretty simple. Over night, your nose may become clogged with debris and dust. Thus, it is good to clean it out.

Another similar hadith mentions that Satan urinates in the ear of one who does not get up for the morning prayer. The act of “urinating” was commonly used by the Arabs as a metaphor for corruption, as the classical scholar Ibn Hajar explained:

“It is an example used for the one who is negligent of prayers due to heavy sleep as if he has got his ear filled with urine till it became weighed down and his senses got corrupted. Arabs have used urination as a metaphor for corruption” (http://www.letmeturnthetables.com/2012/11/explained-satan-urinates-ear-hadith.html).

So you see, my Gentile dog friend, the hadith you mentioned is symbolic. This is in contrast to your Bible’s claim of a talking serpent that enticed Adam and Eve to eat from the forbidden tree! 😉

  2. Just pray to Allah and read your Quran and sunna.😉
