This is not “An excellent critique of Secularism”. It is a lying diatribe against atheism full of pompously inflated phrasing. I do not need to believe in the supernatural in order to have “a substantive ethical vision” (i.e. morality), or to avoid a shopping addiction.
Atheism does not provide any kind of foundation for ethics, any more than non-belief in ghosts or reincarnation does, but it does not prevent morality. Nor does it pervert morality or cause moral stagnation, as religion so often does.
Couldn’t disagree more. Let’s debate this tomorrow.

atheism provides no metaphysical foundation for ethics it’s meaningless, purposeless universe.

Some of the logical conclusions of atheism are nihilism and determinism. Both prevent morality.
