Allah has forbidden everything that harms the body and mind, and saps the strength. Everything that is harmful to a person is not permitted…

Allah says in the Qur’an

“O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al-Ansaab, and Al-Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaytaan’s (Satan’s) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful”

  1. Every example of the dangers of alcohol are examples when a person gets drunk. (driving, fighting, violence, etc.)

It does not show that having a glass of wine with a meal, or having a couple of beers with a hamburger, etc. is harmful or sinful.

The problem is people don’t know when to stop – if they are going to drink alcohol, they should stop after one or two drinks. The lack of self-control and self – discipline is the problem. Same for gluttony and over-eating. It is too much of a good thing.

The OT is full of positive statements on wine as something God created like food and can be used in joyful celebrations. Psalm 4:7, for example.

And Jesus the Messiah celebrated at the wedding at Cana in John 2:1-12 and turned the water into wine.

What does Islam say about drugs(heroine – etc. (lots of Muslim Iranians and Afghans are hooked on Opium related drugs, as it is abundant in Afghanistan and Balouchistan, parts of Pakistan and Iran), opium, Qaat (lots of Muslims in Yemen use Qaat) and smoking cigarettes ?

  2. The video quotes Surah 5:90

O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan’s handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper.

O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.

  3. I’ve been known to enjoy the occasional beer. Then again, I’m not enamoured with Islam or Christianity (certainly not in their organised senses) so that probably doesn’t surprise anyone.
