Christian blogger says porn use is good for Christians

Unbelievable debauchery. Perhaps Ken can do the honours by offering a good Christian rebuttal..

Biblical Gender Roles

A Christian blogger is using the Bible as well as statistics and studies to challenge church leadership and secular leaders who oppose the production of or use of porn.  How could anyone in their right mind come up with such a crazy idea? Is it even worth it to read his so-called “evidence” from the Bible and other sources that porn use is not bad?

So who is this Christian blogger making these claims? Well that Christian blogger is me.

Since I started my blog about two and half years ago I have tackled many gender based subjects from a Biblical basis.  During that time while teaching on lust I have stated that I did not believe the Bible condemns the use of all forms of pornography and that some porn use is both Biblically acceptable and good to use.

But my statements on porn have opened up a lot…

  1. You are right, Paul; that is “unbelievable debauchery” !!

The argument by the “Christian” blogger is crazy. It is so ridiculous I cannot spend my time reading all of the links he links to.

One passage, among many others, destroys his argument – Matthew 5:28-30.

It is clear that sexual fantasies in the thoughts are sin – Matthew 5:28, so that person is crazy if he thinks some porn is ok. No, all of it is wrong and it exploits women and generates more lustful thoughts and fantasies.

  2. And what the Shiite Sheikh said above is also incredible debauchery, sin, and gross! (both the sodomy and the Jihad)

  3. This misguided Christian is blogging that, “The production of amateur porn can actually be a ministry and be honoring to God.”

Can we really expect anything less than this from Paul’s “Gospel of Freedom” from the law? Is it really any surprise that this is the end result of Paul’s innovation?

    This is where misguidance leads.

    • That blogger is certainly wrong; but he did not get that from the apostle Paul.

Lusts and fantasies are always wrong: 2 verses from the Scripture that the apostle Paul wrote:

      Colossians 3:5
“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

      Galatians 5:24
“those who belong to Christ Jesus have put to death the flesh with its passions and evil desires.”

  4. Hi Paul and Ken

I want to know opinion of both of you regarding mastrubation . Is it a sin ? . My friend says it relieves us and keeps our sexual drive in check . He also says it is natural : body will naturally relieves itself by night falls.

    • It is sin, when one is awake, because one cannot do that without lusting and fantasizing in one’s heart. (which brings Matthew 5:28, Colossians 3:5, and Galatians 5:24 and other verses in application.) But the night dreams are not sin.

Pastor John Piper has a good article on this; and the guilt that comes with it; and its relation to serving God in missions.

“Is masturbation wrong? Let me address the issue mainly for men. I cannot imagine sexual orgasm in the loins without sexual image in the mind. I know there are nocturnal emissions, which I regard as innocent and helpful, but I doubt that they are ever orgasmic apart from a sexual dream that supplies the necessary image in the mind. Evidently God has constituted the connection between sexual orgasm and sexual thought in such a way that the force and pleasure of orgasm is dependent on the thought or images in our minds.

“Masturbation produces real and legitimate guilt and stands in the way of obedience.”

Therefore in order to masturbate, it is necessary to get vivid and exciting thoughts or images into the mind. This can be done by pure imagination or by pictures or movies or stories or real persons. These images always involve women as sexual objects. I use the word “object” because in order for a women to be a true sexual “subject” in our imagination she must in reality be one with whom we are experiencing what we are imagining. This is not the case with masturbation.

So I vote no on masturbation. There may be other reasons why it is wrong. For now I rest my vote on the inevitable sexual images which accompany masturbation and which turn women into sexual objects. The sexual thoughts that enable masturbation do not help any man to treat women with greater respect. Therefore masturbation produces real and legitimate guilt and stands in the way of obedience.”

      From this article:

      http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/missions-and-masturbation

God says through the apostle Paul, “it is better to marry than to burn with lust” 1 Corinthians 7:9

“But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.”

  5. “He also says it is natural : body will naturally relieves itself by night falls.”

I think Ken’s mentioned a lot already but I’d also like to add that masturbation and nocturnal omissions are not the same thing. Masturbation is voluntary whereas nocturnal omissions happen involuntarily when we sleep.
Also masturbation doesn’t keep sexual drive in check. It may provide very short term relief (even sex does that) but if anything it will increase your sexual desire.

Sexual drive is normal since we are human beings but it is best kept in check by our thoughts, will power and trying to avoid material that tempts you into it.
