بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
“The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.”
[Q 4: 17]
“and repent soon afterwards” yatūbūna min qarībin يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍ means whenever they fall into sin, they immediately repent.
No one is free from sins but all praise is for Allah, Who has opened the door to repentance. So, it is required from His creations that whenever they sin, they should hasten to repent and back to obedience to Allah. Obedience to Allah means compliance with His Commands and refraining from His Prohibitions.
But if one choose not to repent and nor seek forgiveness then such person might despair from the Mercy of Allah.
