I identify

I can identify with Christopher’s experiences. I’ve received death threats, verbal abuse, threats of physical violence and malicious lies. The Qur’an warns the followers of Islam that we will experience this.

  1. I am honestly surprised brother Paul has some experience with this. Perhaps because he is a prominent and outspoken Muslim by having a blog and engaging in dawah. I am not implying that it is his fault for being targeted. For better or for worse and no offense, I haven’t seen Paul “look like” a Muslim (in the YouTube videos), since he does not support the beard or have traditional Arab dress. Paul does not even focus inordinate attention on Muslim foreign policy issues, such as Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar, and Xinjiang

I remember Professor Jonathan Brown saying that his experience as a Muslim is mitigated because he is white. Maybe he was referring to how he was treated by the state and law enforcement, as opposed to other citizens. (I think “white privilege exists, and one manifestation of this is how blacks or other people of color, but especially blacks, are discriminated against by law enforcement.)

I believe that a large component of Islamophobia is racial. (Ha ha, Mozilla doesn’t spell-check that “Islamophobia”, but it does for “dawah” and “Xinjiang”).

  2. Muslims are sadly viewed by some as a problem due to both ignorance and lack of interaction with Muslims. It is far easier to demonise an entire community when they are nothing but a statistic.

Converts are seen as especially threatening because they have joined the ‘enemy’ turning their backs on the country and its values in favour of another culture and its values (which are caricatured as backward and violent), themselves being seen as intellectual and progressive.

The only way to respond to this is through continued and repetitive education and outreach to our communities and show them that Muslims are not the bad guys that they are portrayed as in the mainstream media, but rather husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, friends, and most fundamental of all. Human beings just like everyone else.

  3. Have you not read Jesus’ words when he was accusing the “peaceful” jews ?
“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?”

Also, why do you think that you have something to do with the post unless you know in your side that you are kinda those guys who like harass converts to Islam.

Moreover, we just show how hypocrites you are. It’s really disgusting when you comment almost everyday with trolling or by insulting our beloved prophet pbuh , yet you are so upset because we do not acknowledge the tremendous “love” that you have! It’s better for christians to give up using the words love as they have given up understanding the word (one). Your language as well as your religion are meaningless.

    • Their text is so corrupted that people are free to tamper with it, here a “translation” has been published omitting all “anti-Jewish sentiments”:

“The Contemporary English Version of the Bible (CEV), published last year by the American Bible Society… is being actively sponsored by the American Interfaith Institute… as the first Bible to contain no anti-Judaism. The claim is presumably based on the retranslating, or in some cases the paraphrasing or simply omitting, of certain prejudicial allusions to Jews in the New Testament.” [Bible Review, vol. xii, no. 5, Oct. 1996, p. 42.]

  4. | And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return.” | ( The Quran 2:155-156 )

    and

    | You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah – indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination |
